What is in the sandwich and smoothie combo

There are two combos on our wall menu:

With the 24 oz upgrade, the Sandwich Combo is $16.95 and the Hummus Wrap Combo is $15.95. On the apps, prices are about 15% higher than in store, and the app shows the total before you pay.

"Any sandwich" means the Grilled Chicken Melt, the Turkey Club or the Cheesy Beef Melt. "Any smoothie" means Golden Mango Velvet, Strawberry Banana Velvet or Pineapple Mango Green.

Smoothies come in two sizes only: 16 oz ($5.99 in store) and 24 oz ($7.99 in store). The app total is always shown before you pay.

The math: what the combo saves

Here is the honest arithmetic using our in-store prices. A 16 oz smoothie is $5.99 on its own.

The savings are modest, and we would rather say so than overstate them. The real benefit is one price, one tap, and lunch plus a drink handled in a single order. Pickup at the counter also gets you the in-store price, which is the cheapest way to buy a combo.

Lunch specials in Irving: how to pick your pairing

There is no wrong pairing, but a few contrasts work well. These are suggestions based on the ingredients, not a claim about what most customers order:

• Something spicy with something cool. The Grilled Chicken Melt has chipotle mayo, so a creamy Strawberry Banana Velvet (strawberries, banana, Greek yogurt, whole milk) balances it.
• Something rich with something bright. The Cheesy Beef Melt has horseradish sauce and pickled red onion. The Golden Mango Velvet (mango, Greek yogurt, banana, whole milk) is a sweet counterpoint.
• A smoothie made without dairy milk. Pineapple Mango Green (unsweetened almond milk, almond butter, frozen chopped spinach, frozen mango chunks, frozen pineapple chunks) is the one blend made with unsweetened almond milk and almond butter instead of dairy milk. Like all our smoothies, it is sweetened with a little honey or syrup. It contains tree nut (almond). Our blenders are shared, and we have not labeled any smoothie vegan, so ask staff if you have an allergy.
• A meat-free combo. The Hummus Wrap Combo pairs hummus with pepper and oregano, cucumber, tomato, pickled red onion, banana peppers and greens with any smoothie for $13.95.

Why we built the menu around one combo

A long menu slows a counter down. We chose four sandwiches and wraps and three smoothies so that a combo is easy to say out loud and fast to make. Our portion chart calls for every meat portion to be weighed at the station (4 oz chicken or turkey, 3 oz roast beef, 3 oz hummus), so the combo you order next week is the same size as this one.

How to order a sandwich and smoothie combo in the app

In DoorDash or Uber Eats, open our store and look for the Combos section, with the Sandwich Combo and the Hummus Wrap Combo. Choose your sandwich, then your smoothie flavor, then the size. The 24 oz option is the size upgrade. The app shows the full total before you pay.

You can also order online. At the counter it is even simpler: say "Sandwich Combo" or "Hummus Wrap Combo," name the sandwich and the smoothie, and you are done.

Pickup or delivery for a combo?

If you are within walking distance of Urban Center Market, pickup is usually the better deal for a combo: no delivery fee, and you carry the smoothie yourself. If you are farther away, or it is late, delivery saves the trip. Either way, order the sandwich and smoothie together so they come out at the same time.

4. We make it when the order lands. Sandwiches are toasted to order and smoothies are blended when the ticket prints, so nothing sits waiting.
