Strawberry Banana Smoothie With Greek Yogurt: A Simple Guide

The four-ingredient formula behind a strawberry banana smoothie with Greek yogurt and milk, the mango version, and what goes in our two Velvet smoothies.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie With Greek Yogurt: A Simple Guide

By Tiffins ToGo. Updated October 17, 2026.

What goes in a strawberry banana smoothie with Greek yogurt? Four things: strawberries, banana, Greek yogurt and milk. Published home recipes land near 2 cups of strawberries, 1 frozen banana, 1/2 cup of plain Greek yogurt and 1/2 cup of milk. Frozen fruit makes it thick and cold without ice. Swap the strawberries for mango and you have the golden version.

At Tiffins ToGo in Las Colinas we blend both: the Strawberry Banana Velvet (strawberries, banana, Greek yogurt and whole milk) and the Golden Mango Velvet (mango, Greek yogurt, banana and whole milk), each sweetened with a little honey or syrup. Both are $5.99 for 16 oz or $7.99 for 24 oz in store, 9 AM to 10 PM daily.

Order now, open until 10 PM: Order on DoorDash or Order on Uber Eats. Pickup is at Suite 106, 387 E Las Colinas Blvd.

Why Greek yogurt and milk?

Search suggestions show how specific people get. They type "strawberry banana smoothie with Greek yogurt and milk", "smoothie with Greek yogurt and milk" and "mango smoothie with Greek yogurt".

Each ingredient has a job:

  • Strawberries bring the bright, slightly tart flavor and the pink color.
  • Banana adds natural sweetness and a creamy body.
  • Greek yogurt is thick and tangy. Recipe writers often use it to make a smoothie creamier.
  • Milk loosens everything so it blends and drinks easily.

That is the whole formula: two fruits, one thick dairy and one liquid.

The basic ratio most recipes use

Popular home recipes we checked land in a similar place. Downshiftology's version uses 2 cups of strawberries, 1 frozen banana, 1/2 cup of Greek yogurt and 1/2 cup of milk. A Tried and True Recipes version uses the same four ingredients in the same amounts and suggests whole milk.

So a good starting point at home is roughly:

IngredientStarting amount
Strawberries2 cups
Banana1, frozen
Plain Greek yogurt1/2 cup
Milk1/2 cup

These are home-recipe amounts from published recipes, not our in-store recipe. Adjust to taste: more milk for a thinner drink, more frozen fruit for a thicker one.

How to make a strawberry banana smoothie with Greek yogurt

Many recipe writers put the liquid at the bottom so the blades catch everything.

  1. Pour in the milk.
  2. Add the Greek yogurt.
  3. Add the strawberries and banana, with frozen fruit on top.
  4. Blend until smooth, usually under a minute in a strong blender.

Frozen fruit makes the drink cold and thick without ice. Ice tends to water the flavor down as it melts.

The mango version

Swap the strawberries for mango and you get a golden, tropical smoothie with the same creamy base. "Mango smoothie with Greek yogurt" is its own popular search, and the method is the same: fruit, banana, Greek yogurt and milk.

Mango is sweeter and less tart than strawberries, so the mango version usually tastes rounder and richer.

Fresh or frozen strawberries?

Both work. Recipe writers often pair one frozen ingredient with one fresh one, so the smoothie gets cold and thick without turning into a solid block in the blender.

  • Fresh strawberries and a frozen banana give a thick, cold drink with a bright berry taste.
  • Frozen strawberries and a fresh banana work just as well and are easier to keep on hand.
  • Both frozen makes a very thick smoothie, so add more milk.

Plain or flavored Greek yogurt?

Plain Greek yogurt lets the fruit set the sweetness. Vanilla or strawberry Greek yogurt adds sugar and flavor, so taste before adding anything else.

If you do not have Greek yogurt, regular yogurt works too. It is thinner, so use a little less milk.

Whole milk or something else?

Whole milk makes the smoothie richer and closer to a milkshake. Lower-fat milk makes it lighter. Many recipes also list almond or oat milk as options if you want to skip dairy milk, though the Greek yogurt still contains dairy.

For a fully dairy-free smoothie, you need to replace the yogurt too, or choose a recipe that never used it.

Common mistakes

Too much yogurt. Greek yogurt is thick. Too much can make the smoothie hard to blend and very tangy.

Not enough liquid. If the blender stalls, add milk a splash at a time.

Unripe banana. A green banana adds starch and little sweetness. Ripe is better.

Letting it sit. Smoothies with banana taste best right after blending.

Our two Velvet smoothies

At Tiffins ToGo we make two creamy smoothies on this exact idea.

Strawberry Banana Velvet smoothie with Greek yogurt and whole milk

Strawberry Banana Velvet: strawberries, banana, Greek yogurt and whole milk.

Golden Mango Velvet: mango, Greek yogurt, banana and whole milk.

Like all our smoothies, both are sweetened with a little honey or syrup, and we add no ice.

Both come in 16 oz for $5.99 or 24 oz for $7.99. If you want a smoothie without dairy, our third option is the Pineapple Mango Green: spinach, mango, pineapple, almond milk and almond butter. It is dairy-free and contains almond.

Make it lunch

A smoothie is a drink, not a full meal. Pair one with a toasted sub and it becomes a combo: any sandwich with a 16 oz smoothie is $14.95, and the Hummus Wrap with a 16 oz smoothie is $13.95. A 24 oz smoothie adds $2 ($16.95 and $15.95).

Our sandwich and smoothie combo guide shows the savings, and our guide to sandwiches in Irving, TX walks through each sub.
